The Sheriff's Office has provided service and protection to the citizens of Cobb County since 1833.  Over the years, our population has grown to over 750,000 and the challenge of keeping our community safe has become increasingly difficult.  Although times have changed, we continue our dedication to provide effective law enforcement services for a community in which residents can work, raise their families, and enjoy life.

To be eligible for employment, you MUST:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Obtain High School Diploma or GED
  • Have a Valid Driver's License

  • Deputy Sheriff I - $40,014
  • Deputy Sheriff II - $41,614 (after 18 months)
  • Shift Differential Pay - Evening Shift Deputies receive an additional $0.50/hour; Morning Shift receive an additional $1.00/hour

The Cobb County Sheriff's Office has an entrenched historical legacy that began in 1833 when Sheriff Martin took office.  Since then, our office has been committed to providing professional Law Enforcement Services to all citizens of Cobb County through a trained, motivated, and focused work force of men and women who are dedicated to public service.

The Office of Sheriff is mandated by the Constitution of the State of Georgia and executes a broad range of services which include, but are not limited to:

Step 1: Jail Certification - 2 weeks at North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy (NCGLEA)

Step 2: JTO - 6 weeks with Jail Training Officer

Step 3: Basic Mandate - 12 weeks, includes Academics and Firearms Training at NCGLEA and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course at GPSTC (Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council)

Upon Graduation from Mandate, Deputies will be Georgia P.O.S.T. Certified.
